The brief

Frequently asked
questions.

What is FineTime?

FineTime is the group chat with consequences. One person files a charge, the rest of the group votes guilty or innocent, and the guilty party serves their sentence: a sip, a dare, or a contribution to the pot. Think of it as a courtroom drama, with your mates as the jury.

Is FineTime free?

Yes. FineTime is completely free to download on iOS and Android. No subscriptions, no in-app purchases.

How many people can play?

You need at least 4 people to form a group. It works just as well with bigger groups. The more jurors, the harder it is to escape a guilty verdict.

How does voting work?

Once a charge is filed, the group has 24 hours to cast their vote: guilty, innocent, or jury nullification. Guilty votes come with a sentencing suggestion. Once a majority is reached (more than 50% of the jury), the voting window shortens to 10 minutes, giving everyone a chance to weigh in on the sentence while keeping the game moving. When the window closes, the majority rules and the median sentence stands.

Do I need to be in the same room to play?

No. FineTime works wherever your group chat does. File charges from the pub, the sofa, or the morning after.

What happens if I'm found guilty?

You serve your sentence and mark it as served. Proof is encouraged but not required, the court trusts the honour system. Your verdict goes on your permanent record.
